Frequently asked questions
Does it work in every application?
Yes: SeventyPlain acts directly on the macOS clipboard, before you even paste. It works in Mail, Slack, Notes, a code editor or any app that accepts text, with nothing to configure app by app.
What if I copy an image or a file?
SeventyPlain leaves it untouched. It only steps in when the clipboard holds formatted text (RTF or HTML): images, files and already-plain text pass through unchanged.
Can I turn the cleanup off just once?
Yes, with one click on the big button in the main window or on the menu bar icon. The setting returns to how it was as soon as you turn it back on.
Does it touch my passwords or sensitive data?
No. SeventyPlain never reads, stores or sends the content of your clipboard: it only rewrites the plain text in place of the formatted text, locally on your Mac.
App Store or direct download: which should I pick?
It's the same app. From this site: free 7-day trial, then a 6.90 CHF lifetime license sent by email, with built-in automatic updates. From the Mac App Store: paid upfront, updates handled by Apple. Pick whichever channel you prefer.
